Wild Orchid Wines

Wild Orchid Wine News

Pruning in the Wild Orchid vineyard is now almost complete, and the wines for this vintage are well underway. The Wild Orchid Team has enjoyed being out and about at all the recent regional shows and look forward to the next series of events.

UPCOMING EVENTS: You can next see Wild Orchid and taste our range of wines at the Dowerin Field Day on 25th & 26th August, Mingenew Field Day on 1st & 2nd September; Newdegate Field Days on 16th & 17th September and the 59th Annual Esperance & Disctricts Agricultural Show on 15th & 16th October.

Wild Orchid was a proud supporter of the Facey's Group Women in Agriculture event,  Diamonds in the Dust held in  Wickepin on 29th July. The event celebrated 10 years of inspiring women in agriculture and featured a Wild Orchid Wine matched menu and presentation from Kirsten Skraha, along with other fantastic speakers. Thank you to the organisers and all the ladies who attended and made the event such a great day.

Medal Success: Wild Orchid has had great success with recent wine shows across Australia on three of our new release wines. We don't make our wines to win medals, however it is great to have recognition and affirmation that our premium wines are consistently delivering quality from year to year. Our latest achievements are:

2010 RSM Bird Cameron Timber Towns Wine Show: Our 2008 Shiraz won Silver.

2009 Blackwood Valley & WA Boutique Wine Show: Our 2008 Shiraz won Silver, and our new release 2009 Rosé won Bronze.

Australian Small Winemakers Show and the 121st Rutherglen Wine Show: Bronze medals were awarded to our 2008 Shiraz, 2009 Semillon Sauvignon Blanc and our 2009 Rosé.

32nd Qantas Wine Show of WA: Our Semillon Sauvignon Blanc recieved a Bronze medal.

In the Vines: From harvest to pruning, the seasonal vineyard work rolls on. One of our mobs of breeding ewes will be keeping us company in the vines again this year, making sure the inter-row grasses are kept short and providing entertainment with all the lambs running around. With the lack of rain at the moment, the green grass in the vineyard is a welcome sight for hungry sheep, though we can't complain about the wonderful sunny pruning weather!

Wild Orchid Wines is proud to be implementing a comprehensive environmental management system to protect our environment and produce quality.
